Dogs who are breeding candidates for my program but do not live with me.
Co-ownership is an invaluable tool for breeders, because most of us do have limits on how many dogs we can reasonably accommodate in our homes and that can be very limiting to a breeding program. Co-owners are individuals who for all intents and purposes own their dog — the dog lives with them — but the breeder can still use the dog in their program. The way I do co-owns is very custom for each person and I place dogs with people who are not breeders but have interest in getting to learn and experience the process and be closely involved with and connected to me, without the full responsibility of choosing pairings, arranging matings, health testing, delivering and raising puppies, and everything else that goes into responsible breeding. I also place some co-owns with other established dog breeders if we agree that the dog in question could potentially benefit both of our programs.
If you're interested in co-owning a dog with me, reach out! I'd love to chat further and see if it's a good fit for everyone.
